What We Believe

The following is adapted from Harvest’s statement of faith. For more details or a copy of our full statement of faith, please contact our offices.

    • We believe the Old and New Testament Scripture are the inerrant, infallible words of God. They are the final authority for faith and life. o At Harvest, we use the King James Version in teaching and preaching.
    • We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three persons – The Father, The Son, and Holy Spirit. o We believe that Jesus is the eternal Son of God. We believe that He became man, without ceasing to be God, and was born of the virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless and perfect life and then died to pay the price for the sins of mankind. After His death, Jesus then literally, physically rose from the dead.
    • We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person. His role consists of convicting of sin and righteousness, indwelling and sealing believers, as well as assisting believers to understand the Scriptures. We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the git of healing, were temporary.
    • We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that salvation is a gift freely given to any who will put their faith and trust in Jesus. o We believe that once a person is saved, they are kept by God’s power and remain secure in Christ forever.
    • We believe the church is a local body of baptized believers who come together for the work of the Gospel. o We believe in the autonomy of the local church. Harvest is not under any external authority or controls.
    • The Church has been given two ordinances to observe until the return of Christ.
    • Baptism – Baptism by immersion demonstrates the believer’s obedience and identifies them publicly with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
    • Lord’s Supper – We believe the Lord’s supper is to be held within the church family as a remembrance of Jesus’ death and as a time to examine one’s personal relationship with Christ.
    • We believe that the earth was created in six, literal 24-hour periods. Harvest accepts the account of Genesis 1 and 2 as a literal, historical account.
